* Note on carbohydrates: Polyols are listed under carbohydrates in the nutrition table. Some polyols are partially digested, so monitor how your levels respond.
Frequently asked questions
How large is one serving?
One chocolate bar weighs 45 g.
How does Zuckerschmuck calculate countable carbohydrates (net carbs)?
For the figure shown in our shop, we subtract the stated polyols from the carbohydrates. Always compare the same quantity, such as 100 g. This is our calculated net carb figure and is not an individual insulin dosing recommendation.
How do I convert countable carbohydrates into KE or BE?
Use Zuckerschmuck’s Diabetes KE Calculator: select an item from our range or enter the value per 100 g, enter the quantity in grams, and the countable carbohydrates will be converted into KE and BE; the calculator does not provide dosing recommendations. One KE equals 10 g of carbohydrates, and one BE equals 12 g of carbohydrates.

How do I calculate insulin for low-carb products?
With low-carb products, the packaging says "sugar-free," but carbohydrates are listed, often in large quantities. What does this mean, and how much insulin do I need for them? The carbohydrates from polyols do not affect metabolism and do not raise blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be calculated for insulin dosage. Specifically, this means you check the packaging for the carbohydrate content. From this, you subtract the amount listed as "of which polyols." The result is the number you need to consider for your insulin dosage.
