Some polyols are partially digested, so monitor how your levels react.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Zuckerschmuck calculate the net carbohydrates?
For the shop information, we subtract the stated polyols from the carbohydrates. Always compare the same quantity, e.g., 100g. This is our calculated net carb value and not an individual insulin dosage recommendation.
How do I convert net carbohydrates into KE or BE (carb units)?
Using the Diabetes KE calculator from Zuckerschmuck: Select an item from the range or enter the value per 100g, specify the amount in grams, and the net carbohydrates will be converted into KE and BE; the calculator does not provide a dosage recommendation. One KE corresponds to 10g of carbohydrates, one BE to 12g of carbohydrates.

How do I calculate insulin for low-carb products?
With low-carb products, the packaging says "sugar-free," but carbohydrates are listed, often in large quantities. What does this mean, and how much insulin do I need for them? The carbohydrates from polyols do not affect metabolism and do not raise blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be calculated for insulin dosage. Specifically, this means you check the packaging for the carbohydrate content. From this, you subtract the amount listed as "of which polyols." The result is the number you need to consider for your insulin dosage.
