Spelt wholemeal pastries made with fine organic wholemeal spelt flour and sweetened only with xylitol are the perfect treat for diabetics!

One cookie contains only about 1.2g of calorie-calculated carbohydrates! Carbohydrates from polyols have no effect on metabolism and do not raise blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be factored into your insulin dose.

Our Birkengold® biscuits are made with great care using Made with fine organic wholemeal spelt flour . They are sweetened, of course, only with Birkengold® xylitol. The cookies are also vegan and taste simply delicious!

Our storage conditions: Store in a dry, well-sealed, and protected from light. Once opened, seal the package airtight.

How do I calculate insulin for low carb products?

Low-carb products say "sugar-free" on the packaging, but the carbohydrates are usually very high. What does that mean and how much insulin do I need for it? The carbohydrates from polyhydric alcohols have no effect on the metabolism and do not increase blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be calculated in terms of insulin dosage. In concrete terms, this means: you check the packaging to see how many carbohydrates are stated. From that, you subtract the information "of which polyhydric alcohols". The result is the number that you need to take into account in terms of insulin dosage.
